Identifying Hardware in order to download correct drivers

Postby rockasenior » Sat Nov 01, 2008 5:02 pm

Hi

I am trying to download new drivers for my 1718.

Namely a driver for the SCSI/RAID Host Controller (whatever that is. Device manager says that the driver cannot be loaded)

How do I know which Chipset drivers are for my 1718 from the options below?

drivers listed by manufacturer:

Chipset / Mainboard
Intel 900 Series http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... 8&lang=eng
Intel 800 Series http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... 8&lang=eng
nVidia nForce http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
VIA http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=2&Type=1
SIS http://www.sis.com/download

SATA Controller

nVidia http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Thank you for any answers offered :)

The SCSI/RAID Host Controller is the Controller of your hard drive. In fact the name is missleading since it is neither SCSI nor RAID but S-ATA. This has nothing to do with your sound problem like you suspect here:
http://www.amilo-forum.com/topic,2111,-SCSI-RAID-Host-Controller-problem.html

Did you try to reinstall your sound driver?

If this didn't work, maybe your chipset driver is broken and causes the sound problem and the message concerning the HDD-controller. It bundles some functions for HDDs and sound.
To reinstall the driver follow this how-to:
https://www.amilo-forum.com/topic,2075,-Intel-Matrix-Storage-Manager-How-to-get-the-drivers.html
Then go to the device manager, choose to reinstall the driver and go to the directory you provided to save the driver.

Maybe you then will have to reinstall your sound driver.
