Hard disk replacement problem on Amilo M1450G

Postby zakitc » Tue Nov 11, 2008 10:21 pm

Have had a message on screen - Pri Master Hard Disk:S.M.A.R.T. Status Bad, Backup and replace. So I bought a new hard disk and replaced it. At first laptop didn't recognized it - so I flashed BIOS - it did then. When I tried to boot from Windows XP installation DVD message appears: message one - Reboot and Select Boot device or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key. Message two - if I managed somehow to start Windows installation - Blue screen and text saying that Windows have encountered a fatal error and to prevent computer from damage needs to be shut down.
What I have done: Flashed BIOS; Reinstalled DVD/CD ROM, Reinstalled several times hard disk with removing battery and without; Disabled/Enabled in BIOS option boot from network and other device.
Now I am completely lost and don't know where to look for problem. Please Help :(
I have changed original Samsung HM080JI 80GB hard drive to Fujitsu Siemens MHZ2120BH 120GB hard disk drive. Both are SATA.

Did you use the Windows installation CD which you got with your notebook?
