Amilo V2020 DDR memory type usage

Postby smee » Fri Nov 21, 2008 12:25 am

I have tried to look up which DDR memory types the Amilo V2020 uses, but I am unsure about:

DDR 2
DDR 3

Does the v2020 support these?

I know I can use 2GB max memory & DDR SDRAM SODIMM

Also I see PC 2100,2700 are supported, I guess this relates to the processor speed in Mhz eg 333, mhz, what else is supported?

Is there anything else I need to know about upgrading my RAM, it gets a bit confusing

Thank you

DDR-RAM is incompatible with DDR2 or DDR3. You will need DDR1-modules.
PC-2100 and PC-2700 refer to the front side bus of the RAM (266MHz / 333MHz). This has only an indirect connection with your CPU.

Notebook-RAM sometimes has cdompatibility problems even if the modules are the right ones.
To make it easier, look for SO-DIMM DDR PC-2700 of brands like MDT, Samsung or Kingston.

Thank you very much for your help hikaru.

Your information will be very useful.
I am happy I asked, and I see that I could indeed save money by buying a branded component of the correct DDR type.
You have indeed filled in my knowledge gap, and I can go ahead and buy with confidence :D

I will close the thread now, once again Thanks.

EDIT
I love my Fujitsu Siemens because my Amilo and my mums are workhorses, also the community & support are brilliant.
