Various problems

Postby magnusstefan » Mon Nov 24, 2008 8:47 pm

I have a L 1300 on which I use Windows XP home. For some month this computer shows a vast amount of more or less bizzare problems:

1) First the computer started itself after standing in "rest mode" fore some 15 or 30 minutes. That continued for some weeks. Then other problems came:
2) The computer closes itself after one or two yours use.
3) When using Internet Explorer, the program suddenly goes to full screen mode and removes all toolbars in the top. At the same time the lowest scroll bar begins to slowly move to the right.
4) When using any kind of program I suddenly find that I cannot use the keyboard at all. Nothing happens. Or: I can write a few letters or digits, but very slowly.
5) When using the Explorer it shows the same symptoms as Internet explorer: The menues disappears.
6) The desktop: When a click on any object, trying to activate it, the right click meny shows up. It can then be used.

Some kind of virus maybe? No! I did a clean install of the OS, and the symptoms were the same!

I then tried to clean the fan, because it had a big noise. It became a little better: The fan sound went down about 25% and the computer can now be used for about an hour before it breaks down again. (Before the cleaning it could be used just a few minutes before it broke down." But all the problem described above is still there! It just takes longer time before they show up.

Maybe a memory problem? No! I bought a 512 MB memory and replaced one of the original 256 MG memories. No difference occured!

A friend suggested that maybe a key in the internal keyboard is partly stuck and causes the problem. OK, but what to then?!

I will listen to any suggestions, and I am very grateful for help in this matter?

I thought that, too, while reading your post. Can you remove the keyboard, clean it and insert it again?

Thanks for your answer!

As for your suggestion. Well...
The problem is that I am not very familiar with the hardware in laptops. I have only once, and that is more than five years ago, taken apart a laptop for changing the keyboard. That was a rather tricky thing, it sat really tight, and several times I thought: No, I will broke it! I managed at that the time only because I had a blueprint on the machine. It showed how to take the thing apart, and also, at least in part, how to change the keyboard.

The problem is that I cannot find any kind of blueprint or service instructions on the Fujistu-Siemens homepage. (http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com)

Do you know if there are any blueprints or service manuals available for this computer?

There aren't.

But removing the keyboard should be easy, there are some threads on this topic in the forum.
