pro v2055 harddisk failure

Postby futsihoo » Sat Nov 29, 2008 5:19 pm

for months i got bsod while starting windows, and had to retry to start to get into windows. lately I can't get at all in windows and the bootscreen gives an error: 0200: Failure Fixed disk 0.
which i guess would be my one and only harddisk (WDC WD600BEVS-07LAT0)
see also picture. pressing F1 at this stage turns the screen blank and nothing happens further. F2 returns to the boot setup

sometimes, after many tries, the laptop makes it into windows and everythings seems to work fine. But restarting gets me in the same problem.

i have not changed anythings to the basic system except added 1gb of kingston memory about one year ago (pc2-3200 cl3 200 - pin SODIMM)

given that the problem occurs before windows is even starting i suppose this is a hardware problem, and specifically the harddisk. Any comment welcome.

Yes, most likely your hard disk is defective. You should get a new one.

Before you do so you should check if the HDD is plugged in correctly at the moment.
