I have the U.S version of the Amilo 1526, the Everex StepNote XT5000T. It has two hard drives and will have an upgraded processor next week.
I have tried to reduce the heat generated by the components by sitting the notebook on a metal cooler that has two small fans. Even so, my notebook gets quite hot after a short period of usage.
Warranty aside, will drilling holes in the plastic case directly below the hard drives and the processor allow cool room air to enter the case from some of the holes and at the same time provide an outlet for the hot air inside the case to escape through the other holes?
