CPU UPGRADE FOR AMILO M1420

Postby ricky76vti » Wed Dec 10, 2008 2:33 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm new on the forum and I need to know if I can upgrade the CPU of my Amilo M1420(Centrino1.5Ghz).
I've done the CrystalCPU report here

I checked my CPU and watching on Intel support site so maybe I can install the SL7EP(Centrino 1.7Ghz) model that seems to have the same features...

Thanks in advance for your support!

Hi,
I've just downloaded from the forum's link the Mitac 8050 service manual and the range of the supported CPU for Amilo M1420 is the following : 1.5G ~ 1.9GHz/Dothan 2.0GHz and above.
Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks!

I don't know this particular notebook but if you go here you can download a program called CPUID which will tell you all about your current processor which will help you choose a replacement processor.

If you download this tool and post a screenshot here I will help you choose a replacement processor.

Hi,
I already posted yesterday the screenshot about CrystalCPUID but maybe this is a different program.
Anyway here below the new screenshot about CPUID (it's a screenshot pasted in a word document, sorry but still don't know in which way I can post the image screenshot in the forum...)

Moreover here below there is the comparison between 2.0Ghz model and my actual CPU (1.5Gzh)
CPU : 2.0ghz
sSpec Number:SL7EM
Bus/Core Ratio:20
Package Type: Micro-FCPGA
Manufacturing Technology:90 nm
Core Stepping:B1
CPUID String:06D6h
Thermal Design Power:21W
Thermal Specification:100°C
VID Voltage Range:1.34V-1.276V

CPU 1.5Gzh
sSpec Number:SL7GL
Bus/Core Ratio:15
Package Type: Micro-FCPGA
Manufacturing Technology:90 nm
Core Stepping:B1
CPUID String:06D6h
Thermal Design Power:21W
Thermal Specification:100°C
VID Voltage Range:1.34V-1.276V

So for my understading and reading the Mitac 8050 service manual I can proceed with this upgrade...
Thanks for your time!

Any of the following processors should work with your laptop, the faster processors are quite expensive though.

SL7EP - 1700MHz
SL7BA - 1700MHz
SL7EN - 1800MHz
SL8U6 - 1800MHz
SL8QZ - 1800MHz
SL7EM - 2000MHz
SL7V3 - 2100MHz

Be sure to let us know how it goes.
