Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit auf Amilo 1655g

Hi to all,

i tried before some versions of Suse (8-10)on my Amilo 1655g. But every time something does not work fine. Until i test 3 days ago Ubuntu 8.10 64bit.
Now everything works fine, the only things i changed manually is the activation of the proprietary driver for the ATI-VGA-Card and the proprietary driver of the Broadcom-Adapter. After this i install the fsaa1655g-kernel-2.6.26.tar.bz2 with the manual from: http://www.marvec.org/amilo/

I'm very happy that all is working very fine, because i never liked to use Windows XP.
If you want to add ore delete Software use the Synaptic Manager specially if you use "Third-Party Software".

All Hardware works, the only one I did not test is: ExpressCARD slot and the VIA IEEE 1394 host controller.

The expresscard slot should work without problems because it is treated like a USB device respectively like a PCI-E device.

I guess your firewire interface works too. I'm posting this from a desktop machine with a VIA board running Sidux erebos and it detects the firewire port fine.
If you want to check this yourself, run
Code: Select all
sudo lspci | grep 1394
and you should see something like this:
Code: Select all
04:03.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): VIA Technologies, Inc. IEEE 1394 Host Controller (rev c0)
