Amilo Pa 1538 display problem after World of Warcraft

Postby gixx » Sun Dec 28, 2008 6:22 pm

Hi,
I've got an Amilo Pa 1538 that in the past times gave me LOTS of problems.
The last problem happened today, after the installation of World of Warcraft.
This is what happened:

I installed the trial game, then I run it. It seems to be slow, so I tried to reduce the graphic settings.

Suddenly, some stripes and glitches appears on screen, and the system freezed.
After a cold reboot, the screen passed from black to white, then to black again, as you can see in these photos:

After leaving the notebook unused for a while, I restated it. I saw the Fujitsu Siemens logo, and went to the Bios, but the bios screen showed vertical red stripes, as you can see here:

After closing the bios, and accessing to Windows however, the notebook monitor continues to shutdown and restart if I move the mouse, and the only thing that is clearly visible when the monitor is operative is the windows cursor.
I don't know what to do. The problem seems similar to the one which has the following "solution":

But as you can see in the Bios screenshot, my bios version is the right one (as my laptop returned from warranty at the end of november).
Anyone can help?

What you encounter is the typical symptom of a defective graphics card, mostly due to overheating. If this is true you will have to give the notebook to the support again. What did they change the last time?

You should still be able to run Windows in Safe Mode to backup your data.

Thanks. I think that the problem is really a defective graphic card.
Yesterday everything seemed returned normal but, as soon as I started one of my previously installed games, everything gave rapidly all the problems that I previously encountered with World of Warcraft.
This is what was shown on screen before I was compelled to reboot:

Now the notebook was sent to assistance again, after less than a month of usage.
After all these problems, I hope to have another model as a replacement notebook. This model, and all his design problems with defective graphic card, touchpad problems and much more, seems to be a totally inadequate product to be sold. :?
