batteri charging error - help & anyone in Stockholm?

Postby mickehhh » Mon Dec 29, 2008 10:04 pm

Hello,
I have an Amilo Pro V2065. I'll describe the problem below if someone against all odds has a solution for it, however in case the battery is faulty - Is there anyone in Stockholm, Sweden with a battery that I can borrow just to test if this is the case? I don't want to pay up the money just to find out it's the computer that's broken and not the battery. The laptops that has this battery are:
Fujitsu Amilo A1650
Fujitsu Amilo Pro V2040
Fujitsu Amilo Pro V2045
Fujitsu Amilo Pro V2060
Fujitsu Amilo Pro V2065
Fujitsu Amilo Pro V2085

I'd be eternally grateful if someone could help me out!

The error occurs when charging the battery - the charging light comes on briefly for a few seconds only to stop again. When it stops the screen goes a little bit darker for half a second, just like it is when in battery mode. About 10 seconds later it tries to charge again with the same result. Sometimes it manages to charge for 5, 10, even 30 minutes but it is rare - most of the time just a few seconds.
The window that comes up when you click the battery icon in the system tray displays the same - it says "charging" when the orange charging light is on, then back to "not charging" when the light goes off a few seconds later.

I've tried resetting the BIOS to setup defaults and upgraded to the newest bios. The same error occurs during the bootup (even when the computer is turned off and charging, you can see the charging LED following the same pattern) so that points to a hardware error.

When the battery is taken out the computer works fine on AC power. Also when the battery is charged to 100% (takes ages bcs of the error but it's possible) the computer works fine.

Thanks,
Micke
