Can you see any exclamation marks or question marks in your device manager?

What does this mean? Does the expresscard work in another notebook or does your notebook work with other expresscards?

I assume that your device manager doesn't show anything strange.
Please check your BIOS if the expresscard slot is just deactivated!
Does the sound card use the pci-e interface or the USB interface?

The BIOS of consumer notebooks is very limited.
But most likely you will have the chance to (de)activate some components like LAN, WLAN and also the expresscard slot (maybe called newcard controller).
