Xi 2528 Dead, but "shortcut LEDs" are still alive

Postby torstein.berge » Fri Jan 16, 2009 10:21 am

Hi,

My Amilo Xi 2528 seems to be dead:
It is plugged in, but there is no light in the cord/battery indicator.
There is no indication in the on/off indicator.
When pushing the on/off button (and holding it for a long time) there is no response.

I have also tried to remove the battery.

When touching the panel of the short-cut buttons with LED indicators, the LED indicators becomes lit - so something is still alive....

Any ideas what might be the problem?

Hi, my also, can you write what you do to repair your motherboard?
Ah my is a bit different. its powering up but not boot to bios. Its in system check cycle.

I called the fujitsu siemens and they say that my laptop(after reading the serial) loosed the quarantee in feb 2009.
they says if i can swap my motherboard probably i can buy one near 100 euro.

I see in future what will be.

For sure it's a malfunction, hope it's the charger... let's discard a laptop malfunction:
- try checking charger with a tester, it should drive 19/20volts, maybe it broke a soldering on the jack, maybe a cable broke, maybe ac adapter died...
if the adapter died, (happened to my old pi1505) a universal charger is about U$S 30.
if laptop died... maybe FJS service?

good luck

hi
thx the help, i checked the adapter and battery only runs. Same results.
i think my laptop really dies.

No guarantee so the service replace the motherboard for 450 euro.
(350 is the motherboard itself, i buyed the laptop 1 year ago for 800, so i think it will remain broken for a while)

U$S 350 for the mainboard... well, maybe it's a bit expensive, but, as an xi 2528 user, for the past 10 years using crappy IBM laptops, till discovered FJS, think it worth the invest.
I've heared about another supplier who is 100% compatible, Alienware laptops... maybe worth a call...

hope it helps.
