Amilo 3540 microphone problem

Postby rum_rogers » Sat Jan 17, 2009 11:10 am

Hi everyone,

I have an Amilo 3540 G2 and can't get the microphone to work. I'm using Slackware 12.2 (kernel 2.6.27-7).

Has anyone had any luck with it yet?

Best Regards,

RR

What does it mean, the microphone doesn't work? Are you speaking about the built-in microphone or about an external one?
Is the mictophone recognised in alsamixer? If not, did you run alsaconf?
If it is recognised, did you activate the microphone boost?

I am talking about the built-in microphone. I did all the obvious steps (enabling in alsamixer, running alsaconf etc) with no results. Although the microphone appears to be recogized in alsa mixer ("Front mic"), alsarecord won't capture a single thing. Upgraded to the latest alsa driver (1.0.18) with no luck. I also tried to specify different models on the snd-hda-intel module - all failed.

This seems to be a known problem and it should be fixed with alsa 1.0.18a:
http://alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Changes_v1.0.18_v1.0.18a

At least the bug report says so:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=412528

So upgrade the alsa driver to 1.0.18a and it should work.

Upgrading alsa to 1.0.18a didn't help. In fact, the problem persists on 1.019 as well.

I have submitted a bug report to the alsa project bug tracker:

Can you reproduce the problem with the current version of Slax?:
http://www.slax.org/
It's based on Slackware 12.2. but due to some tweaks in Slax it might work there.

Hello,

I had the exactly same problem on Pi3540-G01 on OpenSuse 11.1 x64. (With alsa 1.018 mic didn't work)

Updated to alsa 1.019 and added "model=fujitsu-xa3530" in /etc/modprobe.d/sound.

Mic works ok now.
