Ubuntu 6.06 has a build in SATA controller support but for the others I don't know. Try using the newest distributions.

Currently running openSUSE 10.1 on AMILO Pi 1505. Installed without any problems.

The only thing I'm unable to get working is the microphone jack. Everiting else works fine with though I didn't test the card reader or firewire as I don't own any. To get the wireless working just install the ipw3945d packet from the install DVD.

You should give openSUSE a try I'm so happy with it that I don't use Windows anymore.
