Most likely there is a registry key that associates the button with a specific application. Changing the registry key will change the application that will be started.
But without knowing which notebook you have, it's impossible to give you more detailed information.

Maybe it is sufficient to change the default media player of Windows:

Ok, it's just what I expected - a registry entry. If you have no tool to configure the buttons, look for the following key-value-pair in your registry:
Code: Select all
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MobilePC\HotStartButtons\3]
"ApplicationPath"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Windows Media Player\\wmplayer.exe\" /prefetch:1"

Change the application path to whatever starts iTunes. For example change it to this:
Code: Select all
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MobilePC\HotStartButtons\3]
"ApplicationPath"="\"C:\\Program Files\\itunes\\itunes.exe\""

I don't know if itunes.exe is the name of the executable and if the path is correct. Most likely it isn't, this is just an example. You'll have to find it out on your own. And I don't know if this prefetch-parameter is necessary. I don't think so because I suspect it to be wmplayer-specific.

Sorry I can't see your screenshot. Imageshack gives me a timeout. You can attach images directly to your posts.

Ok, thanks for the screenshot!
Have you tried to create the key for the mediaplayer?

What I did was to download the Registry Patch for Multimedia Quicklaunch Button from the FSC driver site.
Then I unpacked it and found a registry dump containing these keys:
Code: Select all
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MobilePC\HotStartButtons]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MobilePC\HotStartButtons\1]
"ApplicationPath"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe\""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MobilePC\HotStartButtons\2]
"ApplicationPath"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Windows Mail\\WinMail.exe\""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MobilePC\HotStartButtons\3]
"ApplicationPath"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Windows Media Player\\wmplayer.exe\" /prefetch:1"

It seems like the buttons are preset by default, but I hope that their settings can be changed via these registry keys.

I have no further idea, sorry.
Have you already tried to change the default media player like aspettl suggested?
