Hi I've come accross this forum trying to find a fix for my problem. I'm really glad someone took the time to create it!
Well to get to the point, I've fairly accurately diagnosed it already. It's a clicking/ticking fan noise*, originating from the left side of the notebook where the hot air leaves the chassis (the power supply plug is just after the vent). It starts when the notebook reaches about 40-42 degrees celsius and it stops when 36-38 degrees is reached. These values are approximates and have been measured with a tool called Speedfan. Please note these temperature values are only true when Fujitsu's silentmode utility is activated and is 'throttling'. If you are not using the silentmode utility the clicking/ticking starts at a lower temp.
Does this sound familiar to anyone, and more importantly, did you get it fixed? I hate sending stuff back really, but this ticking really gets to me. Be sure to listen in a quiet environment and run a CPU burn-in test tool to heat things up quickly:-). If you need any advice on how to replicate do this don't hesitate to ask!
* I'm assuming this is fan noise because it starts when the temp. rises above a certain value.
Cheers,
Jeroen
