Adding RAM to Amilo 1450G

Postby Wrexthedragon » Thu Feb 05, 2009 7:23 pm

Hi, I have bought 2 x 1Gb RAM to upgrade. I have changed 1 x 256 Mb to 1 x 1Gb by removing the cover from underneath. However, I cannot access to install the other! From reading forum posts I guess it's accessible by removing the keyboard. Can you please advise how to safely remove the keyboard to install? I am nervous of prising the keyboard without instructions in case I cause damage.
Help appreciated :(

Hi I have sorted it! It's simple once you realise hoow the kayboard is fixed!

1.Undo the single screw underneath the laptop (marked K/B)

Turn the laptop back over.

2.There are 6 little black tabs that are spring loaded and you gently press each one away from the keys one by one while gentle lifting the keyboard. They are located as follows;
Left: By down arrow key
Top: By F1,F6,F11 & Insert keys
Right: By Page Down key

Gently lift the keyboard when free from the tabs (there is no need to disconnect the cable attaching the keyboard to the laptop).

Undo a single screw securing a plate to the laptop. The RAM slot is underneath this. Replace the RAM then complete the process in reverse.

Hope this helps others with the same problem! :lol:

Thanks for the explanation. I've the Amilo Pa1510 and trying to remove the keyboard.

I can see the tabs but at a loss to how you prise the tabs away while simultaneously lifting the keyboard. I don't want to damage anything so perhaps we could have a little more detail.

What tools do you use? Any tips?
