LI 1705 constantly resets when touched

Postby TylerrDurden » Sat Feb 07, 2009 8:31 pm

My LI 1705 has some serious problems, 1stly it will hardly ever boot up, on the rare occasions that it does i have to be so gentle with it as the smallest nudge of the laptop will just blank out everything and completely shut down. Even if i just rest my hand on it sometimes it will just reset, then will not boot into windows or even post. the power light and the wifi l.e.d's stay on and the fan from the cpu is going but nothing on screen, then once in about 20 resets it will work and boot and operate no problems.

Anyone have any idea as to what is going on?

Do you have warranty? If not, then the only idea I have is to dis- and reassemble the whole laptop... and hope it helps :?

All was ok. I am thinking about motherboard fault, but where ?

The difficulty in booting could be a capacitor problem, I'm experiencing similar issues atm (amilo 1538). Though, if I leave my laptop in AC for about 20 to 30mins before trying to boot, it boots up successfully from first attempt. I haven't messed around with any of the components yet (apart from just cleaning up the exhaust and applying cpu thermal paste once a while).

And as far as the touching and crashing goes, that has been a problem for me for a long time now - I have resorted to using an external monitor and external keyboard and leave my laptop fixed underneath my desk. I haven't a clue what exactly is causing this, there must be some kind of annoying sensor on the motherboard - maybe someone else can shed more light on this problem.

Hi, I have an unusual experience and with this fix my amilo 1705.
I bought form Ebay T-862++ bga irda repair ,because I decided to fix dv9000 motherboards.
(I have five dv9000 from my company)
So, during an afternoon I tried to reflow VIA VN896: after this my motherboard stops to work.
I decided for reballing chipset and now is working fine.
It was not easy, because Via VN896 is a big chip ,and I was thinking that never fix it.
