The Ui 3520 uses the same hardware like most of th other netbooks. One of the well known distributions made for netbooks (easy peasy, eeebuntu or fluxflux-eee) should work fine.
Sidux and Mandriva should support it out of the box. The latest fedora version should work fine too if you made it through the installation wizard.

I have Fedora 11 on the 8GB Lexar Expresscard 34 I put in my UI 3520.
I used this https://fedorahosted.org/liveusb-creator to install a Live CD image "with persistant storage creation".

Now when I want to boot to Fedora all I have to do is change the boot priority to the Expresscard in the bios.

First time I booted up wifi worked but I'm greeted with a slightly alarming "One of your discs is failing" (refering to the 60GB HD) which I'm hoping is just a bug.

You don't need an expresscard though, you can use a USB memory stick.

Does your Expresscard-Fedora run with a reasonable speed? I have the 16GB version in my Si 1520 and once had Debian installed on it. It worked, but even for an office system it was too slow for me due to the poor data transfer rates of the expresscard. Mostly I had read rates of about 10MB/s and write rates of 3MB/s.

I haven't installed openoffice.org so I can't comment on that application.

The OS itself seems to be quick enough.

In our german forum we have a user of the Ui 3520 who is experiencing troubles with the ACPI (mainly brightness control) on Ubuntu. According to #363326 a workaround is to set the kernel parameter acpi=off. Do you have similar problems with other distributions? If not, which distribution and which kernel do you use?
