Yo me again,

I just found out you can also select unsupported operating systems..........
There are drivers for my notebook, and will try them tonight.

I will let you know when I've done some memory benchmarking.

Cheers

Yo

Installed Vista Business X64 yesterday and it is running perfectly..
I first couldn´t find any drivers, but when I took a closer look at the driver page from Fujitsu Siemens it is possible to select an 64-bit operating system.
Although 64-bit operating systems are not supported it is running very nice.
I only couldn't find drivers for the build-in webcam, but i never use it so it is not a big problem. Haven't searched for this drivers too.
Also there are no drivers available for the sound card, but I think vista has a driver for the realtek because it is installed automaticly and works good.
The driver for the graphics is really old (most of the drivers of FSC are), and I tried upgrading from www.nvidia.com, and every driver for notebook I try doesn't work because the correct hardware is not installed
FSC can really score points here if they keep their drivers up-to-date....

So I want to advise people when the upgrade to 4gb, also upgrade your OS to 64-bit because otherwise u will only use 2814mb.

And now I have a really clean vista intall, without all the standaard programs you have to delete first(norton trail, office trial, etc.)
The utility's I haven't tryed installing under 64-bit, but I will try if this works soon. But without the utility software the hardware buttons already work for adjusting brightness and volume.

Hope that this info is usefull for someone.......

Cheers

Hi

I notice there aren't that many amilo users around here. But I will be updating my posts anyway, maybe it helps anyone in the future.

I just got my webcam to work under Vista X64. You can just download the 32-bit driver and install it. It even contains an 64-bit capture utility.
Overall my notebook still runs very nice, and I don't understand why people downgrade to XP.

hey!
i've put in a 2 gb ram modula and 1 gb - so all 3072 but my windows only reconizes 2.8 - in the bios it find all 3 gig- so you say the problem is win xp 32?- is there bios update that can make win32 work with more than 2.8 gb ram.
when i use system info - it says cant find ram?

is there a workaround for this with out upgrading to windows 64bit

Hey

The problem isn't in your BIOS. It is just that an 32-bit operating system (XP or Vista) can't adress more then 3GB's of Ram(even less).
If you want to use more then 3GB's of Ram u have to upgrade to an 64-bit operating system.

Maybe you should also check your memory speed. Because you are using 2 modules which are not the same in size, this causes your memory controller to run in single channel mode.
You can get a performance boost if you place 2 modules of the same size.

I believe there is a patch so that your windows shows all your ram, but this doesn't address them and doesn't mean the memory is used. At least i've seen this for Vista.

Good Luck.
