m1437g with Nec-6500A dvd problems

Postby tucoz » Tue Sep 19, 2006 4:00 pm

Hi,

when I burn a debian image using the nec-6500A, it can not boot those cd's. I haven't tried with a dvd image, but all ubuntu/debian images i have written to cd's are unable to boot. Do you think a firmware update could fix this, and in that case, what version? The current fw-version is v2.58. This has been the case since I bought the m1437g a year ago.

edit: Why i hesitate with a fw-upgrade is that the fw from Nec states in the Readme that it isn't compatible with OEM drives, such as those that are part of a laptop.

Yes, I can boot that and other cd's as well (like a debian cd burned on another computer). It sometimes have trouble mounting cd's and dvd's, like regular data cd's or dvd's. Mainly those that are burned on the laptop itself.
