Pi 1505 - does not fill screen area

Postby freddiecooke » Fri Mar 06, 2009 4:11 pm

Hi, I have a problem with the display area of my Pi 1505.
Spy Doctor reported that it had intercepted a trojan called Backdoor.bandok.
The next time I booted up the display area of the screen left about 80ml wide black,[but lit],strip down the right side and a grey strip about 12mm wide, with some lines/shading, along the whole of the bottom edge of the screen. :(
I have no problems using the laptop with any programmes and there are no other display issues apparent.
I restored successfully once and everything seemed :D sorted until I next booted up when I had the small display area problem again. No further restores have worked.
Since I can see that the screen is lit in the 'blank areas' I asume this is a software rather than harware problem.
Is this what is called a 'driver' problem. If so how do I 'repair' it/them and how do I do that. :?
I would be very grateful for any help  from those less technology challenged than myself. [Yea well ok thick if you like! ].
I do have all the original discs that came with the laptop - MMmmm somewhere?
Best wishes, Freddie.

Maybe your graphics driver got damaged by the trojan/virus or during the cleanup process.
You can download your drivers from the FSC driver site (just chose your notebook and OS):
http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com/com/support/downloads.html

If reinstalling your graphics driver doesn't solve your problem you may have to reinstall your chipset driver in advance.
