[Li 1705] Hardware errors and drivers not working

Postby o1nk » Sat Mar 14, 2009 10:51 am

I had to format my Li1705 and decided to use the recovery discs.
Everything went fine and the desktop appeared. Brilliant

Then I noticed it wasn't playing sound and the icon in the system tray said there was no device connected
Installed the driver from the second disc but it said "We can't find HD Audio device"
Tried a whole host of drivers, yet nothing worked
Tried the 3.60 driver for the fix for Vista SP1, as a similar thing occured ..... No Device

Loaded up Everest.
It shows up in the PnP device, yet not on Windows Audio secion
Tried services.msc and it states that Windows Audio has 'started' ie not turned off

Also, my driver for the AR5005g didn't seem to work
Got some more drivers, same thing. Would not pick up any networks
The card works in another laptop absolutely fine

So, in a nutshell
My HD Audio is there, but device manager doesn't recognise it
My AR5005G, no drivers are working for it. It's in Device Manager, driver fits, not picking up networks

Any help would be fully appreciated

Thanks in advance

I'd try to boot from a Linux live cd (e.g. Ubuntu). It should play a startup sound before displaying the desktop - if that works, at least we can assume there's no hardware problem.

Wireless: is the wireless switch active?
