li1718 - black screen, no p.o.s.t., fans & leds work

Postby uk_dan2k » Thu Mar 19, 2009 6:37 pm

hi, i got a laptop and as soon as i click the power button, the leds light up, checks the cd rom (hear it click) and the harddrive, nothing shows up on the screen.

fans are still running, tried putting a xp cd in to boot off, but nothing comes up, spins up and everything.

not hearing any bleep indicators off the motherboard.

anyone got any ideas, i've also tried that hard reset (with the battery & power pack out).

Does the screen backlight work?

You can also try the VGA output, just to see whether it works or not.

I know this may sound weird, but try to stretch the lower part of the laptop plate up a bit while pushing down the keyboard section for a few seconds. Then try booting it. I've seen this work on many degrading Amilo's (Very poor laptop infrastructure...Fujitsu must be the worst laptop maker on the market, they make Acer look pro).

This sounds very familiar to my problem, ti happened last night and am hoping it can be resolved (I have far too many files on there to lose!)

Plugged it in, fine. Desktop very fuzzy/interference. Unplugged - the laptop shut down. On trying to restart the power light is on, the DVD drive is "clicked" so that part of the process is fine. But then...nothing. I can get no response or sound from any other part of the machine.

If anyone can help me that would be fantastic

Seems to be a graphics failure, stopping it starting, especially with the symptoms you describe. It could be that the chip has died completely, or heat has caused it to come away from the motherboard, the tiny solder balls have strained.

Do your keyboard indicator lights flash when starting?

I've got that same kind of problem, i shut it down last night no problem and this morning it just won't start.
The leds come on and the fan starts as does the cd/dvd but then...nothing! No screen...Nothing! I've tried to start it a few times now and i have tried all the remedys in these posts....

Anybody got any ideas?
The BIOS gone dead?
Power supply(partly)?

Got a lot of important files there, so please....Help!

p.s. writing this on the wifes Acer Aspire one and it bugs me to bits that it works better than my Amilo 1526. =(

EDIT: Actually it seems I didn't try one of the tricks here..... The one involving the prying on the lid whilst perssing on the keyboard...It seems it did the trick or it's just
a huge coincidence but I'm writing this on my Amilo! And honest to god I did as the dude told me to an tried to boot....Now it works again.
Now, thinking about this, there might be something to this...When I write, as I am doing now, I rest my wrists on on the part of the computer that seems to be the problem area...So why not!
Maybe time to open up this thing and check the fittings(or let an expert do that).

OR I just got lucky and the next time I try to boot this...It won't!
But to be the smart one here, I've already copied all of the important stuff I could think of(+ the porn=)...)
