Lid-close detection

Postby mohannad_ibrahim » Mon Mar 23, 2009 6:45 pm

Hello,

I have Amilo M1425 laptop and I started to have this problem for 3 days:

When I open the screen normally (90 degree) the screen is very dim (similar to the famous inverter problem) but when I change the screen angle (around 45 degrees:lid half-closed) the backlight returns normal (in fact, I am writing this message under such viewing angle !!!).

What I think is the lid-close detector (which functions normally to turn off the backlight when it detects lid closing to save power) is malfunctioning and is detecting lid closing even though it is still open so it turns the baclight off.

Now I need you to test my theory but I don't know the lid-closing detector mechanism in amilo M1425 notebook, which in other notebooks is a small pin near the hinge. So anyone an help me here?!

Thanks in advance

In newer notebooks the pin is replaced by a magnetic switch. I'm not sure where it is located but it should be somewhere in the case where the display frame touches it. If you have a small magnet you can check it.

Yes thank you. I found the magnet and removed it completely as a test but only had partial(<=80 degree is working, >80 not) solution to the problem and i need to check something else for a solution!
