Hi All

I need yr help, my Amilo Pa1510 laptop just suddenly died, n i cant figer out what has happent.
The problem occured when i tryed to plug-in a extenal desktop usb backup drive into the usb on the left hand
side of the laptop, when i pluged it in the laptop just switch off completly, and know it does not even come back on.
when i press the on/off button nothing happens....

plzzz guys i need yr help...

What do you mean with this?
Was it a 2.5" drive without additional power supply? If so you might have destroyed your main board since these drives need more power to start up than is allowed by the USB specification.

If this is the case you can't do anything about it. However, if it's not destroyed you can try a hardware reset:
remove main battery and power pack and press the power button for about 15 seconds. If you are lucky your notebook will start again.

yes it Was it a 2.5" drive without additional power supply?
but i did not even get a chance to switch the drive on, when my laptop went off....

one thing i 4got to mention is that i left it on all night with the power on, n it did not get hot ??
could it be the battery "not charging" .

It will (try to) power up on its own as soon as you plug it in.

It's very unlikely that it would switch off due to temperature reasons just when you plug in the HDD.

Do you try to run the notebook on battery? If so, please try it with the power pack.
