Amilo pro v2030 memory(RAM) upgrade

Postby shoora » Wed Jun 10, 2009 1:32 am

Hello all!

I want make upgrade and use 2x1Gb memory.
As I see in documentation v2030 supports 533MHz memory.
But I can find it in my place.

Can I use 667MHz memory?

Thanks
Alex

Should work, it has to be DDR2 of course.

Hello.

What about DDR2 800 (or PC2-6400 which is the same, as far I understand)? Will it work for amilo pro v2030? In my area I cannot find neither 533 (PC2-4200) or 400 (PC2-3200) which are specified in notebook manual.

Thanks,
Vladimir.

Several days ago I bought SO-DIMM 2Gb DDR2-800 HYNIX, but it didn't work. I even can't enter to the BIOS. After pressing a power on button there was a black screen and nothing else.

Today I bought SO-DIMM 2GB Kingston KVR667D2S5/2G. But BIOS and Windows XP recognized and showed only 1 GB. This one works only in Slot 1. If install it in the Slot 2 - situation is the same as with DDR2-800 HYNIX. So totally I have 1 Gb (2Gb) in Slot 1 and 256 mb PC-2-4300 (266 MHz) Hyundai in Slot 2.

And some more. CPU-Z 1.54-32bits-en correctly recognized 2GB Kingston memory.

Weird issue Andriy, especally the cpu and RAM identification mixup ?

I have heard of similar situation with memory card problems. Some have solved the problem by having identical RAM cards in both slots. For some reason not easily explained, some laptops do better then. Perhaps it has to be a certain speed to work in the v2030. I have been lucky some times and installed more and faster RAM than originally was available at the time the laptop was new, but it doesn't always work. I probably didn't get a faster laptop, but RAM cards were new and low priced. On the other hand, I rarely have needed more than 2GB ram, perhaps you can try two cards each 1GB?

Best of luck
