Postby PhilLvsTanya » Mon Jun 22, 2009 10:16 pm

when i turn it on i can faintly see the screen it cant be used i need to plug it into the tv in the living room.

ive tried the contrast etc and its made no difference.

Most likely your backlight, the inverter or a cable of them is broken. The only way to fix tis is to replace the part.

so it could most likely be the inverter as i can see the screen slightly but its not usable without the tv. are they easily replaced?

I have exactly the same problem!! Mine works sometimes, I have to restart over and over again to try to get the backlight to work on start-up.
Can I ask how you have solved it?

well im still yet to get this fixed as im still trying to find more response to what it is has it happend to anyone before etc as the 3 parts are quite pricy for me £40 for an inverter £40 for the inverter cable and i presume a new screen would be needed f i got the backlight sorted so your looking at 50 - 80 for that aswell.

anyone info on a recent experience on this problem as it would help me out alot.

thanks

Hi, I got mine sorted a month ago and it wasn't a hardware problem, I'm not too sure about the technical reasons behind it but apparently my disks needed defragmenting, the backlight hasn't been a problem since. Some other people also said it's rarely a hardware problem, not sure about your laptop though.

That sounds strange. Even if you had no hardware problem, defragmenting the HDD cannot solve any problem that might have to do with a non-working backlight.
