Postby m4dman » Thu Jun 25, 2009 10:42 pm

hi guys hopfully you can help me
i have been doing work on desktop computers for quite sometime now so when a friend asked me to upgrade his ram on his laptop i thought it would be quite the same sort off process. he has a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2055 with 256 ddr2 533 and according to fujitsu's manuel it can take 2 gig over the 2 slots (1 gig in each slot) which is what we wanted to do i went to my local shop (scan) and bought 2 1gig sticks of corsair ddr2 533

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-C...d-CAS-4-4-4-12

when i put it in the laptop will not boot and i get error beeps (3 short, 3 short, 1 short )

i rang fujitsu but they just said they have no info on this model of laptop (strange) my friend took it to the tech guy at the school where he teaches and he said i got 4200n but need 4200s i have no idea what he is on about and can not find anything about the 2 different types off ddr4200 nor ever heard of them
any help would be brill
thanks

I also never heard of 4200n/s.
Every 1 GB DDR2-SO-DIMM should work. If it doesn't, then you have to try another brand.

Maybe 4200N is a Mini-DIMM (instead of SO-DIMM)? I found some Mini-DIMM modules with an "N" in the name.
But Mini-DIMM has 244 instead of 200 pins, so it wouldn't fit...

Hi,
Try to put in only one memory module and boot. If this works try the same with the other module only. If this works either they should work together as well. If one of them if faulty you will not be able to boot the laptop successfully.
