Dual boot Vista plus Ubuntu

Postby peterpan » Wed Jul 01, 2009 2:36 pm

Hi Folks,

I ve recently bought new NB Xi3650.
I ve been using before ubuntu on my business computer at home (to divide work from leisure :) and
keeping my browsing and HDD safe - i ve used external USB HDD).

I would like to install now second OS Ubuntu. I have now Vista HP:
1. i ve already browsed some of topics here with similar questions but not one cover dual boot wit Linux based OS. Although i was using ubuntu for a long time, i am not so technically skilled to predict what can happen ... e.g. MBR will be overwritten or whatever ... ?
What to do to make sure safe and clean installation of second OS. Links can also help me. I ve googled something but i would like to be sure.
Regarding to hybrid graphic that should be no problem. Ubuntu has driver for it.

2. and what about guaranty? with dual boot, will i break it? i could not find article about that

Thanx in advance.

Ubuntu overwrites the MBR - but it creates an entry for Windows in its own bootloader, so this shouldn't be a problem.

Not that I know of.
