change the Cooling system (V2065)

Postby pnik » Tue Jul 07, 2009 2:26 pm

hi to everyone,

I have an amilo pro v2065. My laptop usually works at around 75 (or even more) Celsius degrees, and my cooler QUITE loud, it sounds like an huge server actually. For some reason, one year ago I have changed my cooler once, at one of the official service points of fujitsu-siemens in Greece, and I am afraid that they have placed some crappy cooler because initially my laptop was perfect.

Now, I dont have anymore warranty for my laptop. I would like to change my cooler but I dont know any good one. I would like to ask you if you might know any, or what good be the problem for high temperature and that terrible noise. Is it better to send it again in an official service point or to do it by myself?

Kind regards, pnik

I think your best bet is to do it yourself. You can only use the cooling systems designed for that particular machine. Some cheaper sources, such as Taiwanese or Chinese sellers on eBay sell clones of original coolers. These are to be AVOIDED at all costs, they are cheap, nasty and will probably damage your laptop.

Go for a working system pull, you're more likely to have a genuine one. My fan on my Li 1818 vibrates when the lid is open certain angles, but that seems like a design fault.

Maybe you just need to clean the fan and the grill to solve your problem.
If this is not enough, renewing the thermal paste should help Please see this thread for some hints on changing the paste:

Just skip the steps dealing with the CPU replacement itself.
