Amilo LI1818 Problems

Postby chudders62 » Tue Jul 07, 2009 4:28 pm

Hi I am (up until 2 days ago) the proud owner of an Amilo LI1818 which has now for some strange and unknown reason ceased to function. The battery does not seem to charge, ac adaptor functioning, and will not run off the mains sometimes starts then just stops.

I have been told by a couple of people that the battery is probably dead but anyone got any ideas before i start spending money.

Also where can you buy a replacemnt battery from every where sells the 10.8V battery but I cant find a 14.8V battery

Cheers

I was unable to find a 14.4V-battery too.

But it seems like the Li 1818 and the LI 1820 are nearly identical, except for WLAN and battery. So I'm optimistic that the 1820-battery will also work in the 1818, but I'm not sure.
There are also batteries available with 11.1V like youcan see here:

I would give it a try.

Does it run without the battery connected, but on mains?

Sorry if this is an old topic guys but I have a similar problem. Before Christmas my Amilo Li1818 was showing 0% available, (plugged in, not charging). Now I think its the original battery so its got to be 5 years old. I posted this charging problem on a Fujitsu forum

http://forum.ts.fujitsu.com/forum/viewt ... 24&t=43562
They said plugged in not charging message was an inherent problem in vista

I uninstalled the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery in device manager and clicked scan for new hardware and it found the charger and it started charging again.

So I thought I my as well get a new battery so I searched eBay and found 14.8v battery 10 available £22.99 in China. I ordered it and waited for it to be delivered. Obviously the Christmas post will slow things down so after Christmas I asked the seller when I could expect it? He said if you don't receive it within 45 days let me know and he will give me a refund. I waited till mid January and it still didn't arrive I emailed him a couple of times but he never replied so I put a complaint in eBay about it one week later he refunded the money.

Now I've search eBay since for a battery but they keep showing 10.8v or 11.1v but no 14.8v. How can they make a laptop and have different voltage batteries? I've search the web for 14.8v batteries and they are extorsionate prices £70 plus. I only paid £50 for the laptop.

Does anyone know where I can get a 14.8v battery at a reasonable price?

Any help would be appreciated. ;)
