Amilo L7320 Ram problem

Postby ccwharris » Tue Jul 14, 2009 9:27 am

Hi, I have just bought 2 GB of ram (2 x 1gb) to upgrade this laptop which currently has 512mb. I used the "Crucial" memory finder tool and it came up with the following compatible ram.

DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 128Meg x 64

So I went to ebuyer and ordered the following:

Crucial 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 667Mhz/PC2-5300 Laptop Memory Sodimm CL5 UNBUFFERED NON-ECC 1.8V

Problem is when I put this in, in either 1 or 2 slots I get no boot and error beeps from the motherboard! Do I need to update the Bios? If so where from? Or is there some other issue?

Thanks for the help

Theoretically your RAM should work since the specifications are correct.
But exchanging RAM is always a gamble because not all modules comply with the electrical tolerances.

I have no experience with Crucial but MDT, Samsung and Kingston work in most cases.
