Problems with mainboard, BIOS, BIOS update, battery, AC adapter.

Hi there. I've just joined this forum.
I've been given an Amilo D1845 minus it's hard drive as the previous owner complained about overheating and the machine freezing up (a common problem).
I cleaned half a ton of dust out of the cpu coolers and bought a new hard drive.
I've installed XP pro SP3 onto the machine and everything seems fine.
I've downloaded all the drivers from FS website and installed them all except the BIOS upgrade.
I cannot get my machine to boot in DOS mode so I can't flash the BIOS.
I have the files on a USB flash drive and a CD but cannot access them.
I've presses F8 and chosen the option with DOS but it only recognises the c:\ drive. In XP all the drives are listed and work fine.
How do I boot in DOS mode and flash my BIOS?
Many thanks in advance
Pete

Did you burn the BIOS disc file as an image? It's wrong if you see the image file on the CD.
But why do you want to flash the BIOS at all? If everything works, there's no reason to do it...

HI Aaron
Thanks for the reply. I wanted to flash the BIOS to help cure the heat problem.
The constant fan running is very annoying as is the high cpu temp.
I have burnt an ISO image to disc and changed the boot seq to CD ROM drive.
I've flashed my BIOS with the 1.04 version from FS website.
The fan still runs but quieter and the cpu temp has now dropped 4-5 degrees.
I had to measure the temp with a digital thermometer as software such as 'Speedfan' and 'Everest' don't seem to pick it up. Their software shows a constant 75C! where as the thermometer shows the temp to vary between 37c and 42c.
Before BIOS flashing it was reaching 45-50c.
seems to be OK. Still noisey for a laptop.
Thanks Pete
