xi 3650 Freeze problem

Postby Terror.C » Wed Jul 29, 2009 9:27 pm

Hey, I recently bought an Amilo 3650 Xi notebook, but it keeps randomly freezing or giving a BSOD whenever the 9600m GT is turned on.. It happened right after I took it out of the box.
I tried installing many different drivers, under Vista and Windows 7 but nothing helped. I figured it was a hardware fault, so I sent it to Fujitsu for repairs. When I got it back they replaced the motherboard and video card, but its still freezing. Does anyone else have this problem? I have no idea whats causing it and I'm clueless here :(
Any help would be appreciated!

I am in the same situation except that the problem only appeared after 6 or 7 months. It could easily be reproduced by running the graphic test of System diagnostics. After 3 months the frequency of freezes had increased. It was also when the nVidia card was on.
The Xi-3650 was sent here in Belgium to a local repair centre designated by Fujitsu. The motherboard and videocard were replaced but the problem is still there and even worse because memory and processor tests are now also causing the problem. And whereas the system only freezed previously, after the "repair" I have freezes and reboots.
Cherry on the cake, 3 screws were missing from the bottom of the case. :(

I called back Fujitsu helpdesk and they recalled the notebook. This time they have sent it to another repair center, in Sömmerda (Germany), where it arrived this morning. I will keep you informed.

Since you had your problem did you escalade it and what was the outcome?

Hey, its quite some time ago already and fortunately its been long solved.. What happened was I sent it over to fujitsu for repairs again, and asked them to do an extensive test. The first time I sent it apparently they didnt properly test if the issue was resolved. The problem turned out to be a broken mainboard, they replaced it and it's been working fine ever since. The repair was also in Sommerda or something.. Hope this helps!

I am happy for you and these good news bring me some hope... What makes me doubt however is that they are supposed to have already replaced the mainboard. :(

Maybe with a ... broken one

Ok, that's odd.. sometimes driver errors cause the same freeze/reboot thing, something called a nvmddl error or something but then youre supposed to get bluescreens as well. If you havent changed drivers lately I'm guessing its some hardware fault afterall. Let's just hope they test it properly and fix it for real this time then!

Hi,

To keep you informed, my laptop was back today. They have changed the mainboard, stress tested it for 3 hours and it seems to be working now. I ran the system diagnostic tests and they went alright.
:)
So, it really seems that they had replaced the mainboard by a broken one during the first repair...

Thank you for your help!

Glad to hear, seems they have plenty of broken motherboards laying around
