CD/DVD drive not recognised Amilo Pa1510 want to replace it

Postby bartvbeek » Mon Aug 03, 2009 4:44 pm

Hi everybody,

The CD/DVD drive on my Amilo Pa1510 is not being recognised properly. Sometimes it will show up in the BIOS and in the Hardware detected by Windows XP. I can get Windows to recognise it by pushing the drive "in to the laptop" while it is closed and by having it look for changed devices in the Device Manager. However this will only solve the problem for so long and it means that the drive sometimes fails in the middle of playing or burning a CD. I think the problem has to do with the connections of the drive. But I can't check this because I cannot open the panel over the drive. Is there a way to do this and does anybody have a guide or tips?

P.S. Perhaps I just need the right tools, but I really don't know how to unscrew the panel, because it is so tight.
