amilo pi 2515 - broken pin in ac socket

Postby wolfytom » Sun Sep 13, 2009 8:59 pm

Tripped over cable and broke pin in ac socket.

Took it for repair and was told it had 'burnt out' motherboard. Can this have happened and if so is it actually beyond economical repair as I was told?
If not, where can I get it done or could I do it?

Thanks in anticipation

I don't want to exclude that the main board might have been damaged due to the mechanical force that broke the AC pin. But it sounds unlikely that this should have caused any electrical damage.
If the board got damaged and you are out of the warranty period it really makes no sense to repair it for economical reasons.

so i bought a laptop with an inherent design fault ~ i note other brands don't have an ac pin but just a hole!
lesson learnt.
