Amilo Li3710 and openSuSE

Postby hanasi » Tue Sep 22, 2009 11:58 am

I have been offered this computer at a suspiciously attractive price. If I buy it, I would wish to install openSuSE on it, so I have searched this forum for helpful comments on that possibility; I do not find this model number in connection with such installation. If anyone has experience with this machine, and can offer advice about availability of drivers for it, ease/possibility of installation, warnings, things to watch out for, etc., I would be most grateful to hear about anything helpful.

I have no experience with the Li 3710 and there are no posts about it concerning linux, but the hardware should be supported well. The only component that might cause problems is the graphics card (Intel GMA 4500M). Some Ubuntu users report bad 3D and video performance but others say that it's fine with the recent drivers.
A german online store even sells notebooks with this graphics card and Linpus Linux. So I would be optimistic.
