Hi!.
I have 2 laptops here, and i had 1.5GB (512MB+1024MB) in my Amilo, and 512MB (1*512MB) in the other laptop.
Then i found a 2GB so-dimm on auction cheap, and i bought thinking it would be nice with 2.5GB in my Amilo instead, and put the 1GB which would be
left in the other laptop to make it 1.5GB.
Then i read that Amilo 1818 only supported 2GB maximum, and had to be 2*1GB SO-Dimm on various pages. That was terrible i thought..
but i made some more research and found that the chipset in the amilo 1818 was Intel 945GM which actually supports 4GB so i thought i had a little chance.
When i today got the memory in the mail I tried it in the other older laptop, and it wouldnt boot at all with just the 2GB in it.
I then tried to put the 512MB module in aswell, and voila it booted up. Only showing 2GB of ram instead of 2.5GB. (the chipset from Ati / AMD only supports
2GB maximum instead of the Intel 945GM's 4GB)
Then i thought it was a slim chance of this actually working for me in the Amilo, so off to the Amilo.
Inserted the memory and booted up. 2.5GB of ram showed up for me!. Then Windows Vista booted up and it shows 2.5GB of ram, and is stable for me.
Have anyone else done this and succed?. I will do some more memorytesting to see that all works okey, but it seems like its not that big problem to have this working
Sorry for not being a question, but rather some info.
