Amilo-Pro 3505 Backlight Problem

Postby mikes1988 » Fri Oct 16, 2009 2:17 am

Hi

Having some issues with an Amilo-Pro 3505. It's not mine so I don't know if it's been an ongoing problem, but earlier I was moving around and the laptop screen suddenly went off. It just seems to be the backlight switching off. However after a wee bit of footering I've noticed that the computer goes to stand by when the screen goes blank. This is making me think it's something to do with the lid switch. If I flick the switch a few times the screen seems to start again - also touching the case around the switch seems to turn the screen on, although it doesn't stay on.

Any ideas?

Did you try to deactivate the option in the OS that causes the notebook to go to standby when the lid switch is triggered?

Thanks for the reply. I've tried that but it just stops the computer going to sleep, the screen still switches off, and wont come back on again... :(

:( Seems to have totally packed in now. Is it likely to be an issue with the switch or something? Or is it something worse than that?

I've noticed I can't actually turn the laptop on either, as it must lock out the buttons when the screen is closed - which it thinks is happening...
