Hi all.
I have decided to post to Hardware section (not Software) since there was no problem before. Few days ago while playing screen went black. After a restart, it worked fine, but afterwards it happened again, not in gaming. Day after I even couldn't enter windows xp with Ati drivers running. It works ok with drivers uninstalled or in the safe mode.
YEAH, you wold say Ati drivers (ones with the notebook), but they worked before, got even the latest from Fujitsu, reinstalled windows (original with the notebook), flashed the BIOS and VBIOS, and still the same - as soon as windows opens the desktop (native 1280x800) in few seconds screen blacks out with something running in background - only button power-off works. I repeat, everything was fine for almost 3 years with the same software.
Yesterday, I have managed somehow to quickly jump to section of VGA properties - settings/advanced/troubleshoot and turn off (reduce to the max) the hardware acceleration and it helped, at least for next 10 minutes when I turned it off regularly - it was a respectable result! While installing drivers this time I didn't install "Ati catalyst center" just to narrow the options. Now, I will try to "accelerate it back" step by step and see what happens. Catalyst? Way later.
I suspect - if there is such a possibility - that "section" of vga card makes the problem when drivers initiate it.
At first, I was suspecting the ACPI - power management was not functional, no hibernation and standby. But since it requires all devices to have ACPI support which means right drivers - x700 was disabling power management because basic XP VGA drivers do not support advanced power management. Now, with Ati "drivers back" power management functions are on.
So, is it possible that a "part" (section-function) of the VGA died? Any ideas?
