Installing Win7 on XI 2550

Postby zap18 » Fri Oct 30, 2009 8:33 pm

Hi!

I have a problem installing Ultimate on my laptop wich im currently running Vista Home Premium on. When I get to the part of the install where I choose wich hard drive or partition to install it on, the installation doesn't detect any of my hard drives.

From what I've gathered from browsing different forums my problem lies in that I have to install drivers for the disc controller in order to detect the hard drives as I belive the drives are in a RAID-setup, but I can't seem to find the right ones.

I've tried to load the drivers for these that I got from Fujitsu-Siemens, but I get the same problem. Could it be that these drivers are just for Vista? And in that case where do I find some for Windows 7? I've seen posts from people running Windows 7 on the same laptop so it should be possible to preform the install, but how?

Help greatly appriciated!

Its possible to install it. The strange thing is that you cant load them from USB, you MUST burn them on CD for the drivers to work. Took me a few days last year to figure this out and still today with win7 its the same. Anyway you need to download the JMicron drivers for the two sata drives. Not sure where i found the drivers but shouldnt be to hard. Im not at my laptop now so i cant direct the url. Get the driver, burn them and use them in the install and u will be all set. Good luck!
