Amilo Pi 3560, brightness shortcuts

Postby steliyan » Thu Nov 26, 2009 1:16 am

Hello. I have problem with my notebook, fn+f8/f9 shortcuts are not working. I'm using Windows 7 32bit. The other shortcuts like wireless/bluetooth, volume, touchpad are working except those responsible for the brightness.

Is there any solution to this problem?

Greetings, steliyan.

Is the "FJ OSD Utility" installed?
Which BIOS version do you use?

Not sure about the BIOS version but the FJ OSD UT is installed and it won't start... I've been reinstalling it and the result is still the same.

There is a BIOS with version number 1.06, but I don't see a changelog.
I'd recommend to ask the Fujitsu support, maybe they tell you Windows 7 requires version 1.06. (It's always a risk to upgrade the BIOS, so it shouldn't be done without a reason.)

For screen brightness keys to work under windows you need to install the video drivers created by fujitsu.
They are a bit old, but you can search here for newer ones: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
Some of the drivers does support the laptops brightness fn keys. ( I personally use 190.73_win7x64 from that site, which is compatible with the latest stable cuda btw ).

I hope it helps,

I'm having the same issue. I've updated my bios to 1.06 but it didn't resolve the issue.

So I took the advice in this thread and installed the nVidia drivers from the website, which resolved the issue of the Fn shortcuts for the brightness not working.

However, these are really old drivers, the driver information in the nVidia control panel says they are 186.91.

They also don't have CUDA support which I need.

I like to be able to update my drivers as nVidia releases them. Is there any way around this limitation? Are there any custom apps out there that will accomplish the same task of lowering and increasing the brightness without having to rely on Fujitsu to release their modified drivers?
