Can't install BC-5500S driver

Postby fox river » Fri Nov 27, 2009 2:54 pm

I bought a FSC Amilo 3540 notebook with Optiarc BC-5500S DVD/CD/Bluray drive on it. It was installed with Vista before I replace it with a new Windows 7.

The problem is that the notebook doesn't recognize any BC-5500S anylonger. The DVD/CD drive is still functioning (at least to read DVD/CD disks). I want to update the driver, but everytime I run the executable driver update, it said "Optiarc BC-5500s is not found correctly".

Anyone has idea what I need to do?

The fact is that my DVD/CD driver is detected as HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N, in Device Manager and also BIOS Setup.
I don't know what is it supposed to be. But according the driver list provided by Fujitsu-Siemens support website, it should be Optiarc BC-5500S (Blu-ray drive). :?:

It is not unusual that notebook manufacturers use different CD/DVD drives in the same model, sometimes even more than two. I think only Optiarc is mentioned on the drivers page just because Fujitsu provides no firmware update for the GSA-T50N.
