In the german forum we have a user who installed Windows 7 on a Pi 1536. The only thing he complained about was the sound which he could fix after installing the latest Realtek driver.
Unfortunately he didn't give much information. So I don't know if everything else worked out of the box.

Oh man, where to start...

This AMILO 1536 was bought in Italy, so the keys do not match the US english keyboard. Not really a problem, but whatever...

I've had multiple operating systems on this, and it takes some tweaking to get everything running right.

Ubuntu worked like a friggin charm, I highly recommend. Too bad netflix won't work without silverlight though

I couldn't get my Windows 7 install disk to boot; kept getting "Error cannot boot from CD, code 5" or something, so I used a fresh install of Vista, and upgraded to Windows 7. I had to manually install the graphics driver (same one for Vista I believe...

ATI Technologies Inc

11/8/2006

8.31.100.2

Vista automatically had the proper resolutions.

Not to get off track here, but it looks like this laptop consists of much more modular parts than most. I saw a user (not sure what forum) upgrade the graphics card to a ATI mobility radeon 4650 or something, used the Alienware BIOS 2.07, and installed 4 Gbs RAM, he even replaced the LCD with a better model!

anywho...

I have to reboot now after installing the High Definition Audio Codecs from here:

I will bump this thread again if I was unsuccessful in getting the headphones/line in and volume knob on the left-front to work (I already know it will work)
