Problem activating unused Xi2528 Vista license

Postby curtj » Sat Jan 16, 2010 6:36 pm

I bought a new xi 2528 about a year or so ago with Vista preinstalled.

I've now completely removed Vista, and the recovery partition, and installed Windows 7 - all is good, works nicely.

I also have a brand new MacBookPro. I have completely removed OSX, and as part of the process have used my original Amilo Vista install disk to install Vista onto it. This works very well, and I'm pleased with it. The license key is the one that used to work on the Amilo.

The problem is, when I go to activate the license key, it says it won't because it's not Fujitsu Siemens hardware.

I don't want to by another Windows license right now, and would like to do this legitimately if possible.

What are my options?

most fujitsu siemens hardware has a unique code which is linked to the copy of windows that ships with the laptop and windows checks for that code, if it's not present it won't acctivate but there is ways to do it but i'm affraid google is your friend for that one not a public forum :D

It's far away from my comprehension why anyone would like to make his life miserable with that crappy O/S...would understand if you, for some obscure compatibility with some dos proggie reason, do need an XP-sp3, but vista? sorry... it's nosense...
Why don't you try a fresh W7 on the macbook? it's going to run smooth, & will never give you a headache... maybe you can still give a call to uncle Billy, & pay the upgrade from the original vista license to W7...
Other consideration: the original FS Vista is a "stripped down version", that is: the disk only includes drivers needed to boot & install on the specific Amilo xi2528...you may have not the necessary drivers to properly install on the mac, and maybe some hardware would never been recognized, even if loading later the mac drivers disk...
