Where is the bios battery of Pi3560?

Postby Krice » Mon Mar 01, 2010 8:51 am

After just couple of months bios throws error "0251: System CMOS checksum bad" and the bios is reset to default. This I guess means the bios battery has run out of power. But where is it? There is some kind of thing labeled 0827.09 looking like a battery covered in green plastic case when you open the service lid. Is that the battery? I tried to open rest of the computer, but even after remoing other screws I was unable to remove rest of the cover.

Bump

I have had my PI 3560 for less than 2 weeks and I am experiencing the same error. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,

Forgot to add it only throws the error message up if I let the battery run dead and then boot once charged.

I purchased amilo pi3560 from makro after being sent from one store to the other. Purchase made at 5th store. Laptop had a user set up, software loaded and seems to boot up slow, keys sticky and icons on desktop distorted. Makro just says send in for repair. Why, I bought it new!!! Surely they should give me a new one and send it in themselves - if I did not buy a substandard - repaired laptop as a new one!!! Bought Sunday 31/01/2010.

One last post. Do any of you know if the Amilo Pi 3560 uses a CR2032 type CMOS battery? I can't believe nobody has any information about the location or type of battery this unit takes.

Please, if anyone has any information that will be of use I would appreciate a response.

Thank you,

The battery is probably the 0827.09 thing inside green plastic in bottom middle section when you open the service hatch. I noticed that when you keep using the computer every day the bios doesn't reset. I guess that means the cmos battery itself is rechargeable.

I am also having the same problem. I assume that it is the 8027.09 thing but suspect that is a manufacturing date August 27 2009 - not fully sure but I can't find replacement CMOS devices with that as a part number (or not so far).

Thanks in advance,

Maurice

This seems like it will be an unsolveable problem.

Found the battery but it has no part number on it.

Success,

You can use any standard 3v CR2032 type battery. You can either solder the connector wires to a new one or buy one with the connectors already attached for around £4.99 on ebay.

As long as the battery is a 3v CR2032, it doesnt matter which model you buy, providing the connectors fit.
