The Xi 3670 has a CIR interface, this is for using it with a remote control. Maybe there's (another) remote control and your laptop reacts to its signals?

Cheers for that reply unfortunatelly nope ive used it in in rooms with no remotes no one else around and it still does it. Im wondering if its the same as other reports where the light bar is affected by screen brightness and this alters sounds.

Same for me, extremely annoying. Really makes me wonder why I replaced my Macbook Pro =(
I hope someone will find a solution for this problem, I'll post it if I get it first.
