is there a second memory slot

Postby ziofonta » Sun May 09, 2010 9:36 pm

hello everybody,
i upgraded from 2 gb to 3gb ram my amilo xi 2528, changing the SODDR 1GB on the bottom slot of the laptop with a 2GB one. Is it possible to upgrade to 4GB changing another memory or the other slot is mounted onboard? I really cant find another slot, and i'm not sure to disassemble the keyboard for nothing....
please help!!!!
many thanx in advance.

It is below the keyboard.
But when using a 32 bit system it can't use more than approximately 3 GB, so upgrading from 3 to 4 GB doesn't have much effect, if any. (Maybe the graphics card can use a bit more RAM, I'm not sure.)

thank you for answering. i upgraded to win 7 x 64, that was the reason i wanted to put another 2gb slot. furthermore it would be better to have 2 memory similar to best performance (dual channel).
to get acces to the second slot below the keyboard, must i disassemble the keboard from the top, is it right? (i never did that) did anyone already make this and can give me suggesstion on how to do? many thanx!

Yes.

Removing the keyboard is very similar for all models, you can find several threads with the forum search, e. g. topic,211,-Amilo-Pi-1505-second-memory-slot.html .

yes, thank you, i proceded unscrewing one screw marked as "K/B" on the bottom of the notebook, then with a small screwdriver i just shiftet one by one 6 pin on the top of the keybord (just where the keybord is placed in the hole), there are 1 on left, 1 on right, 4 on the higher part (over the F keys)
everything worked good, thank you!
