I have an Amilo V2020, and it is my reliable work horse since 2006!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I recently bought a Sony Bravia KDL-40EX501 flatscreen TV (latest firmware), I wanted to connect my laptop to this TV via the VGA interface, as the TV supports this. This seemed like the best option as TV-Out did not give a very good resolution.
The problem I face is that I cannot get the Sony to recognise the Laptop Signal through the VGA, and I am unsure if the Laptop is recognising the TV signal.
The 15 pin cable is new, could it be that because my Laptop is from 2006, it does not support displaying on this LCD flatscreen TV, I cannot think of anything else?
If anyone else can help me solve this issue of not being able to use a Flatscreen TV as a second output display, I would sure appreciate it.
I know the VGA output works, I have connected projectors to it in the past, and I know about the FN/F4 key combination also Strg/Alt F1/F3 etc. to get the VGA port active and display on multiple monitors, my monitor is set to output Notebook and Monitor in the Intel software.
The only other solution I have found is a VGA to DVI converter, then use a DVI to HDMI cable to convert the video signal, this still does not explain why I cannot connect the VGA to VGA though.
Hope someone can help
Many thanks
Smee
